Topic: A Purpose-Driven Man.

If you don’t live your Dream, someone else will live it for you……..

A man who lives a life of purpose is self-motivated; he doesn’t wait for anyone to motivate him he wakes up daily with so much joy and energy ready to go. He has an undefeated mentality; he sees himself as architect of his own destiny. He doesn’t envy people and he is not intimidated. The way he walks, work and speak express self-confidence that he has in himself. He understands that every man is made for different purpose. He is willing to help others to reach their goal also. A purpose-driven man has a short and a long term goal.
His short term goal(s) is guided by a daily “to do list”, he lists those things that he needs to achieve and he goes after them in order of priority. One More thing he does, he prioritize is objective that is, he ensure that he list them in order of importance the reason for this, is that their certain things we achieve in life that settle other things forever the bible says “seek ye first the kingdom of God and every other things shall be added unto thee” it is a principle when you seek the kingdom, when you give your life to JESUS when you become genuinely born again, when you obey divine instructions. Good health, prosperity, long life, peace, favour, blessing etc shall be added.

Qualities of a Purpose Driven Man.

1.       Vision:  Habakkuk 2:2-3 says “And the LORD answered me, and said, write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.   For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie:  though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.  ” a purpose driven man has a vision, he knows what he wants to become in 1year, 2years, 3years and 5years from now. What is Vision? It is the divine purpose of creation of a man. It is God’s purpose of creating a man. Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” My brother what is your purpose of existence? Why are you here? What did God say he made you for?  concerning Abraham Gen12:1-2 God “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee:  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great;  and thou shalt be a blessing:” that is why HE made him, Joseph the dreamer Gen 37:5-9. He ended up the second in command in Egypt a strange land to save nations from hunger even his own people. Gen 41:39-41 “39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath showed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled:  only in the throne will I be greater than thou.   41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt”. That is why GOD made him. What did God made you for? What is the major goal you will like to achieve in your life?

2.       Talent/Skills/Idea: A man that is purpose driven identify and nature his talent and develop his skill(s). David identified with song that is why he wrote the book of Psalm and God recognized it HE called him a man after his heart because each time he offended GOD he pleaded and sang to write off his debt. Someone introduced pure water and move us from era of iced water to pure water, someone made bottled water, someone came up with mobile phone to aid quick communication and delivered us from long distance journey to see our loved ones and friends etc just to deliver a message, someone saved us from addressing crowd by shouting at the top of our voice, he introduced microphone and speaker. If you die today what will you be remembered for? What talent? What skill? What idea? Will die with you. Housman said “Every man should be ashamed to die until we make a meaningful contribution to human kind” Many years ago I discovered I have this talent to write and deliver speech, I could motivate people but, I had the challenge of facing the crowd to deliver my speech then I started in my local church with the teens church and graduated to teaching once in a while in the adult church now I do better because I want to be remembered. One of my goals in life is to get people out of their comfort zone and support them in fulfilling their dreams through writing, public speaking etc.

3.       Hungry: A man that is purpose driven is a hungry man, he wants to achieve is dream so that he can touch lives. Meet other people need who cannot sincerely meet it. He wants to be remembered JESUS “Mark 1:14-15”was hungry for soul winning, preaching to people, prior to HIS arrival JOHN “Mark 1:4-5” the for-runner of JESUS was hungry he preached and baptized people, Paul the apostle was hungry to reach out to the world with the Gospel of our LORD, Peter, James, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Bishop David Oyedepo, Bishop T.D Jakes etc were hungry for soul winning. Nothing gives a man that is purpose driven satisfaction and fulfillment but his dream. Until you are hungry you cannot unleash the greatness in you.

4.       Give: A man that is purpose driven is a giver. When I talked about giving I’m not only referring to monies and material possession but I’m referring to knowledge, experience that you have and others are lacking. “Experience they say cannot be bought “but experience can be shared. Some people find it difficult to share their experience that could better the life of another, forgetting that the purpose of knowledge is to be shared and the more you share from the wealth of knowledge you have the more knowledgeable you become. A purpose driven man share knowledge/experience needed by the receiver to help such a fellow to achieve his dream also.

5.       Learn: A purpose driven man is ever learning, he learn from others who have walked the same path not to make same mistake they made, like the saying “it is good to learn from other people mistake but painful to learn from your own mistake”. The world is changing therefore any man that want to stay relevant must adapt to change. Before now, we have to post letter and it takes day(s) for it arrive at the destination but now, in just a click your mail is delivered to the intended recipient in any part of the world that is the power of technology, imagine a young man, walk up to you and says he cannot operate a computer, the fellow will sound obsolete to you because it is assumed everyone should be able to use the computer but you know what, the reality is not everyone that can truly use the system. We live in a world where people limit themselves and fail to live to realize their full potential. I had a privilege of teaching in an adult school 2002/2004 there I discovered people who despite all odds they have faced in their live still made it a choice to go further and learn. They did not accept the stigma life tends to put on them as a result of not been able to go to school at their early age in life; they made up their mind to be game changers. I have met people who blame others for lack of their education but I have a common question I always ask and that is “what then are you doing about it”. Stop blaming people for your unpleasant situation because you are not the only one experiencing it and it not ending with you so you have to do something about it. If it is education go to school, if it is money render service(s), whatever it is get over it and move on. Live is too short to live in self pity. A purpose driven man knows that there is not end to learning it is a continuous process. One of my long term goals is to keep learning till I die. Often time people fail to learn because of pride. The fact that you ask what you do not know does not make you weak in knowledge, it’s just that you want to stay active and focused on your goal.

6.       Character: A purpose driven man is a man of character; he is unshaken even when challenges shows up he staggered not. Job1:6-22 God testified of the man Job and his character was tested despite all he lost in one day Job remain resolute. David encountered lion, bull and Goliath he overcame. A man of purpose sees beyond his challenges, he sees victory ahead of problem.

7.    Believe:  Lastly, A purpose driven man believe in God. He believes all that a man is and all that he hopes to be he owes it to GOD.
